We are moving, again!

Yes, we are moving to Edmond, OK sometime this year. Work has begun on the new house there. Continental Resources is moving to the old Devon building in downtown OKC, so we have to leave Enid. This is what 3413 Winding Creek Circle looked like before the dozers really started.

Almost Valentine's Day

My how time flies. It's been nearly a month since I updated this. My niece in Kansas City has her adopted son with her - he arrived two weeks after the earthquake. Here's the link to her blog: www.ataylor3@blogspot.com. Tomorrow is her baby shower in Kansas City - I'm sending a gift.

Our house is not move-in ready. We have the slowest carpet layer in town. All the plumbing is in, finally. There are always little fixes, and those are getting attention now. Unfortunately, it is too cold to continue the outside painting. It will be warm enough this weekend, but the painter still won't be there. We were supposed to talk to the landscaper a couple of weeks ago - nothing so far. Can you believe it's been a year since we started this project?

Today is the third funeral in three weeks for our church. Two were expected - one was a surprise. We are ready to stop losing our members!

Nieces are safe

We had two nieces in Port-au-Prince when the earthquake struck. Fortunately, they are fine, and one is backhome in Kansas City. The other chose to stay and help at the orphanage. However, we heard the orphanage collapsed but everyone is okay and staying in the church across the street.

We've had lots of progress on the house and should be able to move in within a month.

Friday

The house looks the same as it did last week, except that Archie has framed in some walls around the furnace room. Now we're waiting for the heating/air contractor to install the furnace and ductwork. The trim carpenter has the flu. The bricklayer has been on the same job for nine months - some doctor's gigantic house - and is apologizing profusely. He's says he'll be out when it dries up a little more.

Archie has a bad cold - lots of coughing - and is staying home from work today. He spends most of his time in the basement, so I stay up here in the main part of the house to avoid his germs. He was running a low grade fever this morning, but he's back to normal now. Archie's older brother and his wife were supposed to come visit this weekend, but they backed out when they heard about Archie.

Cabinets

Today, I finally took the camera out to the house when Angela and I visited today. The bricklayers actually worked today for the first time in 2 weeks. The cabinets were installed yesterday and they look beautiful!! The walls were primed on Monday. I also took some pictures of the deck.

To the right is Archie's side of the master bath and below I'm in my half.
